As the gardens continue to flood with June Flowers, other projects also flourish.

Today’s the big day here in which Ben Sheehan and Katie Carpenter officially begin to rebuild the website.

All Spring, Katie has been working away on a new design while Ben finished up his academic year as a history and English teacher. Today, his first day of his summer vacation, he’ll spend the morning beginning to plan the rebuild with Katie.

I expect assignments to start flowing my way shortly. There will be many sections to bring up to date and many to rewrite for greater clarity. One thing we plan is to make the common concerns list ( a hefty document we share of our Flower Essence suggestions for common concerns) a lot more user friendly and manageable. Right now it is a rather DRY and LONG document! After the web rebuild, we will still have this original version on offer but plan to create pages sharing the information in a way that is a lot more punchy and visual.

With all the gardens planted, the Red Shiso babies up (there they are right above this sentence along with a lone ranger crab grass seedling) and “most” everything weeded, I look forward to pitching in and helping Katie and Ben with the overhaul. We hope to have the big reveal around the time of the fall equinox. Until then, our current website will stay as is.

If you follow us on Facebook, you’ll have noticed that Katie is also posting there. I have really loved having another person’s view of the farm on our Facebook posts. To me, it makes this window into life here more dimensional. Just as looking at the world through two eyes gives us depth of field, looking through two different sets of eyes at the gardens has meant Facebook posts that bring a similar depth of field.

I feel this way about the website rebuild as well. Somehow my way of thinking about the website has often been very two dimensional. I have thought of the website as somewhat like a book i.e. a place to put up pages of information. As Katie has shown me her ideas for the site and also begun to share her vision of the garden on Instagram and Facebook, I have begun to understand that websites can be more multidimensional than I understood.

As we head into the thick of summer Flowers, it will be so fun to see what unfolds in the gardens as well as in the creative hands of all these young people at the farm! While they dream the new dreams, Grace and I will wander with Sheba, examine the Buttercups and sample the berries- and I will remain very happy to leave the creative rethinking of the website in other hands than mine!

The funny thing about May in the gardens is that I enjoy it at a trot. There is just so much to do that only at dawn and dusk can I wander around at a leisurely pace and savor the return of so many beloved Flower friends. The rest of the time it,s all a bit of a blur. A pretty blur but still a blur.

The Roses did very poorly through this last long cold winter so one thing I have been cutting away hauling off this week is dead branches from our Rose bushes. It looks like almost every Rose survived but many are in need of being cut back almost to the ground. In between weeding projects, I pick away at each of the farm’s 75 Rose bushes.

Another project clamoring to be competed is preparing the gardens to plant the annual crops including Red Shiso. The Red Shiso seeds don’t go into the ground until frost danger is passed but we still need to get the garden spaces where we plant the Red Shiso ready. Being rather luddite in our equipment, this means pitchforks, claws and shovels not a rototiller. This is better for the soil but not perhaps for our backs.

In amidst weeding, pruning and planting, so many Flower Essences need to be made right now. Each sunny morning I make old Flower Essence friends that need replenishing as well as new Flower Essences that you have asked for or that are calling out to be made. This week I made Cherry Flower Essence from our Montmorency Cherry trees for the first time. This Cherry Essence joins an enormous group of Fruit Tree Flower Essences including Pear, Peach, Plum, Crab Apple, Loquat, Quince, Medlar, Lemon, Lime, Orange and Grapefruit. I look forward to sitting down with the Angels and Elementals to find out the strengths of this new Flower Essence friend….. but probably not until June!

Here are the Cherry blossoms on the day I made the Essence. In the early years I didn’t think to take a photo of the Flower when I first made it into a Flower Essence, in part because I had no sense of any larger plan that included sharing the Flower Essences. This led to YEARS of filling in the blanks with photos taken later. In fact, as Katie Carpenter gets organized to rebuild our website from scratch, there are photo gaps we are still trying to fill.

We almost managed to coax our honeybees through the coldest winter on record, then they died in February. Laura and I wrapped the hives so carefully and fed the bees honey whenever their was a thaw, but there just weren’t enough thaws. We had thought we had gotten them through so it was a very sad day when we realized all three hives had died. We have two new hives coming but the supplier won’t send them until the end of June which is, frankly, a nightmare for pollination.

The cold winter killed lots of other kinds of pollinators too, and the decline in various bees around the farm is noticeable. Mercifully, a beekeeping friend just gave us a hive to tide us over until our two hives arrive in June. Jim brought the hive home on Monday. I am so grateful to this beekeeper for sharing a hive. They arrived in time to pollinate the Apple and Cherry trees- I am not sure if we will have much of a Plum, Pear, Black Currant or Red Currant crop as these bloomed before this hive arrived.

Here is Jim taking the seal out of the front of the hive so that the bees can leave the hive and explore their new home. The seal was put in place so they could be moved from their former home in Springfield, VT to here. This new hive appears very happy and busy. All of us share in this happiness. It is wonderful to have honeybees here again after the losses of the winter.

On a woods walk this week, Elizabeth and Reina had a close and lovely encounter with a bear, so we know there is a bear in the neighborhood. We remain committed to keeping the bees in these second story quarters, out of the neighborhood bear’s easy reach.

This morning I am tearing myself away from the gardens for an hour or two to go get groceries. We have been living on stranger and stranger supplies these past few weeks as I just can’t waste time from the gardens to go on a shopping mission when there is something I can throw together from the freezer.

However William is coming home from his first year at college tonight. I think the absence of cheese, milk, butter, ice cream, chips, salsa, cereal, cookies or even pasta may be be too much of a shock after nine months of a dining hall cornucopia. So this morning I got out the Green Hope Farm cookbook and made my list so I can cook him some of his favorites.

I think Jim is going to be a happier camper too. I don’t think the heaping platter of Wild Leeks I served up last night for dinner felt like a complete meal to Jim either.

Oddly enough, this is the most recent photo I have of Will. Here he is buying supplies for his dorm room at the end of his last vacation. Not to worry Will! There WILL be something besides freezer burned peas for supper tonight!

So many of the combination Flower Essences and sets of Flower Essences we have made over the years have come because you requested them.

For example, the Centered Birth Flower Essence combination mix was created at the request of a midwifery practice in Manhattan. This much loved mix has gone on to support births all over creation. The Beautiful Skin combination remedy was created for a practitioner working with many a Hollywood face to help each of these faces look their best. What we call the Family River Trio was created for a healer working to help people sort out their tribe of origin issues. This trio of Bloodroot, Black Currant and Borage remains one of our most beloved trios.

Recently, I had two requests that resulted in some new creations.

The first came from a Green Hope Farm friend named Taryn Crimi. Her life work is with Angels. You can read about her on her site, Angelic Guides. She asked the Angels of Green Hope Farm to create Flower Essence sets for specific topics that she felt those working with her at Angelic Guides were looking for: Abundance, Health & Wellness, Releasing Blocks & Limits, Inner Peace, a set for the Children and a set for the animals.

Taryn’s intention was to make it easier for people coming to her for Angelic readings to try Flower Essences. This felt like a wonderful thing to encourage. It’s always been my experience that taking Flower Essences in combination with any healing work improves the efficacy of the healing work.

For example, when I first made Flower Essences in the 1980’s I was also doing past life readings. I found that if I gave people a tall glass of water with Flower Essences to sip during the reading and then a mix of Flower Essences to take away with them after the reading, they got a lot more from the sessions. It wasn’t long before people who had gotten Essences at their readings were calling to re-order their Flower Essence mixes. This was really the beginning of our mail order business!

In any case, it was fun to see what the Angels chose for each of Taryn and Angelic sets. One thing I noticed in particular was that the Angels included a Rose Flower Essence in each set. I also was interested in how the Angels described the Flower Essences in each set as they related to the topic of the set.

The other request from a Green Hope Farm friend named Sherry Noah was for a combination remedy for folks working with the Akashic Records. I was a bit foggy about what this was. I knew that I accessed it when doing past life readings, but I was not exactly sure where it was or how to describe it. I suspected my own mental image of a library filled with Angels leafing through dusty tomes was not really accurate!

The Angels jumped right in to create this mix. They were clear what Flower Essences were to be included in the mix and had a name all picked out for it- The Book of Life.

Things really are a lot easier when I leave everything to the Angels! They definitely know helpful people!

THE BOOK OF LIFE
Within each of us exists a record of the history of our soul, the experiences we have had and the lessons we have learned along the way. When we are able to remember a past life, we are actually accessing this information from the Akashic Records. The Akashic Records is essentially a record of all that ever was, all that ever is, and all that will ever be. It contains information about every being within existence. In order to serve our spiritual growth, the Essence which we have affectionately named “The book of life” helps us to better access this information from the Akashic Records on a conscious level. In a sense this Essence helps us to swing open the gate of remembrance so that we may receive the most useful information available to us. With the help of this Essence we are able to consciously integrate this information into our being so that we may benefit from the information accessed in the present moment and resolve painful, knotted and complex soul dilemmas by seeing how these same challenges have played out in different situations for us in other life times.

As so many of you know, the Angelic realm is responsible for planning and designing manifest reality in alignment with divine will. The Nature Spirits do the work of translating theses plans into actual form. Nature Spirits or the beings I call Elementals are necessary for the manifestation of all things.

In most minds and most places what I just wrote is thought to be crazy talk. This leaves Nature Spirits pushed outside humanity’s mindset about what constitutes “reality”.

This attitude doesn’t stop Nature Spirits from doing their work. They just do it with no sense of inclusion in humanity’s conception of life. I am always awed by the Nature Spirit’s reserve when it comes to us humans. In humanity’s general unconsciousness of the sentience in all life, so many humans disregard Nature Spirits completely and trash the beautiful world they have created for us. I stand in deep gratitude that Nature Spirits stick with the divine plan and keep manifesting Earth for us. If I was in their shoes, I expect I might have a hissy fit!

One of the things I love about Ireland is that the Nature Spirits feel more tangible there. There are lots of reasons for this, but I am certain one of them is because more Irish accept the reality of Nature Spirits. In Ireland there is a general acknowledgement of a world shared by other beings. No one looks askance at you when you mention a love of fairies. In Ireland, gnomes and elves are more than just fodder for fairy tales but beings included in daily life. As a consequence, it must be easier to be a Nature Spirit in Ireland than in a lot of other places.

One particularly blessed group of Nature Spirits works Omey Island off the west coast of Connemara. This tidal island is unlike any other place I have been, and I treasure the Flower Essences we have made on this island. Of late we have noticed a specific Flower Essence from Omey Island calling out to a flood of you. How heartening it is when so many of you hear the call of a Flower! It reminds me that those of us listening and hearing our co-creators in Nature will by our listening and by our actions AWAKE our sleeping fellow humans who continue to trash our planet in their state of unconsciousness.

The Flower Essence that has been calling to so many of you is Thyme from Omey Island. Here is this beloved Flower powerhouse covering the slopes of Omey. The Thyme is the pinky purple Flower everywhere.

The flood of orders for this gem has me asking “Why now? Who is this bright star of an Essence? Why is this Essence’s gifts needed so much right now?”

I AM the ancient one that lives in the eternal now.

This description made me think of this Emily Dickinson poem:

Tell all the truth but tell it slant,
Success in circuit lies,
Too bright for our infirm delight
The truth’s superb surprise;

As lightning to the children eased
With explanation kind,
The truth must dazzle gradually
Or every man be blind.
The accounting this Essence gives of itself is circumspect and casual, oblique and mysterious. Thyme tells the truth but tells it slant as if the full truth would dazzle us too much.

When Emily Sheehan was six or so she wrote out a list of her favorite Flower Essences describing each with a succinct phrase. For Thyme from Omey she has written the phrase, “the eternal now.”

Just this week Emily returned to this topic when she told me about a TED talk she heard in which the person speaking about happiness said that the two key factors in happiness were being absorbed in the present and living more slowly.

What good news that so many are seeking the support of the Flowers to help them do this. I can’t think of a better support for this state of being than Flower Essences as their whole point is the help us be present in the present. And look how specifically Thyme from Omey supports this, “I help you to slow down into the now so that time feels stretched out into timelessness.”

This summer Green Hope Farm returns to its roots with the young people here expanding the gardens and generally digging in to many of the kind of projects that were central to our very first years.

In the preparations to grow more food as well as Flowers, there are seed flats are everywhere. And stories too as I try and share what happened once upon a time to help encourage each of these young people as they embrace their own relationships with the Angels and Elementals of Nature.

In the first summers of the farm, I dove head first into creating gardens with the Angels and Elementals. I was fearless and confident all our needs would be met. If I required a piece of equipment I did not have or a job done I could not do, I had faith that in the eternal now, the problems would be solved. And they were. I trusted in designs and directions from my Angelic and Elemental partners even when these designs were nothing like my ideas of gardening. As I let go of my ideas and embraced those of my partners, I opened the doors to gardens glorious beyond my imagining.

What a time it was! And it is so fun to tell this new generation of the adventures and joys of this beginning, knowing the same bold adventure is there for them to carry forward just as it is there for ALL OF US to carry forward.

As the farm continued after the first few years, my personal lessons went in other directions into the drama of my family of origin splintering in the face of my younger brother’s death threats against our children. I sought Divinity out more and more and more in this time but the eternal now was a different kind of place. I sought safety not a kubota tractor. Through the gardens the Angels and Elementals addressed the issues I was dealing with and brought many deeply helpful Flower Essences. The gardens were radiant and deeply healing and the work continued on but there wasn’t quite the unburdened joy of our beginnings.

So this time of new beginnings with the young people here feels very precious to me. I am so grateful that our attention can be on tractors and mulch not on issues of safety. To be digging more gardens, filling every cranny of the farm with seed flats and sinking into the eternal now of gardens created in partnership with our dear friends the Angels and Elementals feels like a great blessing.

As of yesterday, our New Zealand vagabonds are back in our midst but during their three week sojourn, I helped Elizabeth keep up with the email. I always love reading your questions because I learn so much from them. Here are a sampling of questions from last week with my answers.

Question: What Flower Essences do you have for the five things our souls want?

I wasn’t quite sure what this question was asking but I loved it. Later, when someone else asked the same question, I learned it was a reference to a specific class that a teacher who uses our Flower Essences was giving. But in the meantime, the question got me thinking about what our souls want and what Essences would help our souls with these concerns.

Answer: Interestingly enough, all the Flower Essence suggestions that came up in response to your question are from our Venus Garden collection. The Venus Garden is created anew each year with a completely unique Angelic design focused on supporting all of us through the specific learning lessons of the particular growing season.

While at first I thought these learning lessons were just about what was happening at the farm, it rapidly became clear that each year’s garden is created to support the spiritual work of all of us. The Flower Essences we make from this garden are among the most significant spiritual movers and shakers in our entire collection and continue to serve us in profound ways long after the garden itself has been tilled back into the earth.

So in answer to your question, “What five things do our souls want and what Flower Essences would help with this happening?”

1. Love for Divinity– My suggestion for a Flower Essence- Mehera, our White Marigold Flower Essence. While most everything changes in the Venus Garden each year, the Angels always include this Flower in their design for the Venus Garden. Love for divinity is that central to all our paths.

2. Gratitude to Divinity– My suggestion for a Flower Essence – Our Gratitude Flower Essence made from all the Flowers in the Gratitude Garden, the version of the Venus Garden created in 2009.

3. Alignment with our Spiritual Purpose– My suggestion for a Flower Essence – The Alignment Garden made from all the Flowers in the Alignment Garden, the version of the Venus Garden created in 2005. This Essence is all about helping us align with our spiritual purpose as well as align all the systems of our body for maximum health and wellbeing.

4. Spiritual Growth– A number of Venus Garden Essences support this concern. Last year’s version of the Venus Garden was called Love It and Leave It and its Flower Essence combination mix supports us to give our all to our spiritual path while also practicing the challenging art of letting go of outcomes. The Sunflower Spiral, the 2001 version of the Venus Garden, concerned understanding what was our spiritual business and what was the job of others ahead of us on the evolutionary spiral. This was a version of the Venus Garden where the Angels could be heard singing when we walked by the garden. I love the Flower Essence combination we made from this garden both because it helps us feel how loved and supported we are and also helps us know more clearly what is our spiritual work.

5. Spiritual Transformation and Transmutation– I saw this as different from spiritual growth in that it is about letting go of older versions of ourselves to be born anew. Phoenix Rising was the Venus Garden version from 2000. It helps with rebirth after firestorms and also helps fuel our spiritual path. The Eight Garden version of the Venus Garden from 2010 is all about spiritual transformation and transmutation. This helps us bring things in and out of manifestation in a genuinely miraculous way.

Question: Is it safe to take Teasel Flower Essence for my Lyme disease while I am working with colloidal silver? I have been told not to take Flower Essences while I am using this silver.

Answer: I am completely puzzled by why anyone would tell someone to hold off on Teasel Flower Essence while he or she was taking colloidal silver. In fact, I never understand why anyone would tell anyone not to work with Flower Essences while working with another healing modality. Flower Essences never burden our physical system because they are not chemical. Flower Essences are electrical information that offer data that can only help us to raise up our vibration. They cannot do anything detrimental to our systems because they are strictly electrical data. They can in no way interfere with another positive protocol but so often help us get the very most from other protocols. We have literally thousands of healers who use them in conjunction with massage, reiki, chiropractic treatment, psychotherapy, past life readings, cranial sacral work, allopathic medicine even homeopathic remedies. Some practitioners are concerned if a patient works with more than one modality at a time they will not know which cured them. I don’t feel most people who are feeling healthier care which modality cured them. They are just glad to feel better.

I would trust your own sense of this, but I personally would not hesitate to use Teasel Flower Essence at any time- I would also check out our Beyond Lyme Flower Essence combination for further support with healing from Lyme disease.

Question: What would you suggest for carpel tunnel?

Answer: For some reason, I thought of the Camino 2- Healer’s Toolbox collection first for this- specifically The Rhythm of Growth, a remedy that relates to the shoulder girdle. I know this is a wrist thing but the shoulder girdle is part of this dynamic. I would also consider some of the new Colorado ones to help the nerve passages fire correctly, specifically Whiskbroom Parsley with its I AM affirmation “I AM the clear flow of electrical data through my system.” and Musk Thistle “I AM the restoration of my electrical circuitry.” Healthy Coat and Outburst are excellent for inflamed tissue, and I also use Flow Free every day at the Angels’ behest as it helps keep nerve impulses flowing as well as everything else flowing.


Question: Are your Flower Essences safe for children?

Answer: In light of what companies are putting in the foods our children eat, it is so good you are asking this question!
Here’s a little bit more information about our Flower Essences- but email with any questions-
We make our Essences from organically grown Red Shiso made into a tea then mixed with white vinegar. This is our stabilizer to keep the Flower Essences vibrant. The white vinegar is a non GMO product.
The Red Shiso is an edible salad ingredient used extensively in Japan and also now used in America in spring green salad mixes. It just happens to have a preservative function as well as be delicious, so we make a tea with it and use it for its preservative function. We learned about it from Japanese friends because it has been used for its preservative function in Japanese cooking for thousands of years.
These are the only ingredients in the Flower Essences as the Flowers themselves are not in the Flower Essences- only their vibrational wisdom which is energetic not chemical.
If you have any concerns about giving these to your daughter internally, Flower Essences don’t have to be taken internally to work. You can rub them on her skin or even have her carry the bottle around in her pocket. Children love Flower Essences and seem to know how they want to work with them from an early age.
